Electric Ireland Super Schools Festival Success

We are very proud to sponsor women’s football in Northern Ireland and to support Northern Ireland’s leading #GameChangers. As part of this sponsorship we partnered with the Irish Football Association on Wednesday 13th June to host the annual Electric Ireland Super Schools Football Festival in Mallusk.

1400 Girls Participate in Electric Ireland Super Schools Festival

1400 girls participated in the festival from schools across Northern Ireland.  Now in its fourth year, the event participation has increased by a third since last year, demonstrating the massive rise of girls' youth football.

At the festival, young aspiring female footballers competed in a 7-aside festival, with family and friends cheering them on from the side-lines. After an impressive day from all the girls, Assumption Grammar, Ballynahinch clinched the Electric Ireland Super Schools Football Festival Senior section and Holy Cross won the Electric Ireland Super Schools Football Festival Junior section.

Jackie Blyth, IFA School’s Officer, was delighted to see so many girls participating in the festival.

“It has been my dream, so I can’t get over it… It’s a brilliant achievement for all the volunteers and teachers who have put in the hard work over the years.”

Clare McAllister, Head of Sales and Marketing, Electric Ireland, commented: "The #GameChangers campaign is having a fantastic impact on local female football and those involved in the game at all levels are really excited by this tangible support for the sport they love so much. Through the #GameChangers campaign, Electric Ireland aim to inspire the next generation of female footballers and support the ambitious outreach to get more women playing football."

Our aim is to celebrate female football talent, help increase participation and shine a light on the 10,000 plus Game Changers who play football each week in Northern Ireland.

Tell us about any Game Changers at your local club using the hashtag #GameChangers on Facebook and Twitter.
