Shooting for the Stars is a competition that invites children aged between 7-11 years old to create their very own story about playing football!

What is Shooting for the Stars?

Shooting for the Stars is a competition that invites children aged between 7-11 years old to sharpen their pencils and create their very own story about playing football! The winning story will be published in an illustrated book that will be given to all of the 4-11 year olds who take part in Electric Ireland’s Shooting Stars programme delivered by the Irish Football Association this year. Stories are judged anonymously, without regard to grammar, punctuation or spelling so all you need is your imagination!

How to submit your Story:

Submitting your story is simple. All entrants must write an original story with a football theme, no more than 500 words in length and no less than 300, and then submit. The competition is now closed but thank you to everyone that entered.

Judges

The competition will be judged by a panel of judges made up of a actor and playwright Tara Lynne O’Neill, Clare McAllister, Northern Ireland Residential Manager Electric Ireland, Gail Redmond, Women’s Development officer at the Irish FA and illustrator Rory Jeffers.

Prize

The winner, Nine-year-old Sarah Dickson from Lurgan, Armagh, will have her short story about a girl who danced her way to footballing success, published into an illustrated book that will be distributed through the IFA Shooting Stars network and will be made available to schools and libraries across Northern Ireland.

Two runners-up will also be gifted the Northern Ireland kit and a Shooting for the Stars book.
