1) Al Gelato, Belfast

Belfast-based Al Gelato has opened its doors right in time for summer. The ice-cream shop, located only moments away from Ormeau Park, produces homemade, fresh gelato in store and even has a Nutella tap for customers to pour the dreamy chocolate sauce over their tub or cone.

2) Tickety-Moo, Enniskillen

Based among County Fermanagh’s lakelands, Tickety-Moo is in a perfect location for a long walk and a well-deserved ice-cream at the end of it. Not only that, the ice-cream shop has its own award-winning Jersey cows that are milked to produce creamy ice-cream in a variety of flavours.

 3) Morelli’s, Portstewart

Open since 1911, Morelli’s is a much-loved ice-cream spot along Portstewart’s promenade. In addition to its traditional “99”, cones and tubs, there are also a whole array of ice-cream sundaes to choose from. Morellis makes a great treat after a day at Portstewart Strand or window-shopping along the prom.

4) Maud’s, Bangor

Looking out over Bangor’s seafront, Maud’s is a popular stop off point after a day at nearby Pickie Park. The parlour’s many different flavours and toppings will make it difficult to choose one but there is always the option of having more than one scoop!

5) Mullin’s, Kilrea

With its central base located in Kilrea, Mullin’s ice-cream is often a detour for ice-cream lovers on their way to the north coast. And, should you not be able to make it to Kilrea, there is a pop-up ice-cream parlour to be found in different locations across Northern Ireland over summer (visit Mullin’s Facebook page for more details).

 6) Nugelato, Newcastle and Newry

With queues lined up outside all summer long, it may be a bit of a wait before you can enjoy your Nugelato but it will definitely be worth it. The shop’s wide selection of flavours, toppings and sauces (including a hot chocolate sauce) are way too tempting.
