Local food trucks to visit in Northern Ireland

Discover popular food trucks here in Northern Ireland and enjoy sweet and savoury street food locally this summer. Now that’s smarter living.

At Electric Ireland, we like to look on the bright side of things. So, our team in 2020 safely explored the best food trucks near them.

If you fancy eating local this weekend and avoiding the crowds, check out some of our favourite food trucks across the country and what we would order below.

Mini Maegden - Giant’s Causeway

Just a short walk from the Giant’s Causeway, you’ll find the amazing Mini Maegden food truck. Popular with tourists and locals alike, this hidden gem is said to serve up the best grilled cheese on the island of Ireland. Their secret? Using the finest local ingredients from across the U.K.

Our order – The Maegden Mix – A signature blend of farmhouse white cheeses on fresh sourdough bread.

Born & Raised – Ballymena

As far as aesthetically pleasing Instagram accounts go, Born & Raised are at the top of their game. Serving up fresh Belgian waffles from a cleverly converted horse trailer, the team travel all over Northern Ireland to deliver their sweet creations. Don’t take our word for it, ask our very own Liam Neeson who hired the waffle truck for a film shoot recently!
Our order – A Liège waffle – a richer, denser and sweeter waffle native to the streets of Belgium.

The Hatch – Newcastle, County Down

Is there anything better than a burger from a food truck? We think not. Especially when the burgers in question are made from grass-fed sustainable beef, local to the Mournes themselves. With an ever-changing menu and an award-winning burger, we highly recommend checking it out!

Our order – The Original Beef Burger made from 38 day aged local Shorthorn Beef.

Made in Antrim

Everyone is talking about the Made in Antrim food truck at Lough Shore in Antrim town, and we know why. Made popular on Instagram and TikTok, this quirky eatery delivers a wide range of dishes from tacos and bao buns, to dirty fries and nachos. If your mouth is watering like ours right now, it’s time to take a trip to Antrim. (Vegetarian options are available too!)

Our order – Korean chicken tacos with all the fillings and a tomato & chilli jam.
