Stay local this summer and visit family-friendly attractions in Northern Ireland. Now that’s Smarter Living.

The summer holidays are finally here and after a year of lockdown adventures, we could all use a little inspiration to help entertain the kids. To help you plan a fun-filled summer adventure that both you and the kids will enjoy, check out a few of our favourite places to visit in Northern Ireland.

The Giant’s Lair at Slieve Gullion

For a magical family day out, look no further than the Giant’s Lair in Newry. This living storybook at the heart of Slieve Gullion is brought to life through a trail of mystical fairies, their little houses, dragons and giants. It’s Brush up on your fairy-tale knowledge, pack a picnic and make your way to the Giant’s Liar this summer. The car park is also free to enter, helping you to save money where it matters.

Streamvale Open Farm

If your kids love the zoo, but get confused when they can’t pet the monkeys, then Streamvale Open Farm will be right up their street. With cute farm animals ready for a cuddle, both you and the kids can enjoy some quality time out of the city. In the spring and summer months you can expect to see baby lambs, kid goats, rabbits, chicks and cute little sniffer puppies.

The Lake at Kilrea

If you live with a bunch of adrenaline junkies, then it’s time to take a trip to The Lake at Kilrea. Positioned in the heart of Northern Ireland, this fantastic family attraction boasts the world’s tallest floating slide as well as an inflatable obstacle course, paddle boarding and zip-lining across the lake. For those who’d prefer to watch from the shore, there’s a café on site to soak it up and scenic walks in the surrounding area.

Prison Island, Belfast.

To pass the rainy days this summer, book a family pass to Prison Island. This new and exclusive experience challenges families as they move from cell to cell completing physical, intellectual and technical tasks. This exciting activity is perfect for everyone and those aged 6-8 can play with an adult in their team.

Murlough Beach

A summer holiday would not be complete without a trip to the beach. Located just outside Newcastle in County Down, Murlough beach offers a unique view of both the sea and the Mourne Mountains. If you fancy a bite to eat, you can take a short drive into Newcastle or make the most of the local ice-cream truck parked on site. Either way, you can control the cost.

With lots to see and do in Northern Ireland, we recommend exploring our local attractions that will help make a lifetime of precious family memories. Now that’s Smarter Living.
