1. Giants Causeway

A popular stop for motor bikers this time of year, Alastair is a big fan of the popular tourist site and the journey towards it.

“The winding roads towards the Giant’s Causeway are unbeatable and I love to venture out to the Causeway area whenever I’ve any opportunity to,” says Alastair.

2. Carrickfergus

Gobbins With the recent reopening of The Gobbins and wonderful stop at Carrickfergus Castle, the Carrickfergus area is bound to draw even more attention this year. Alastair says he sometimes likes to start his journey up to the north coast from Carrickfergus, with the Glens of Antrim as his backdrop and the magnificent coastline ahead of him.

3. Dark Hedges

Alastair admits to enjoying the atmospheric drive through the Dark Hedges. A popular spot for fans of the popular HBO series Game of Thrones, the Dark Hedges is a natural stop for those travelling to or from the North West 200 event.

4. Dunluce Castle

Dunluce CastleAnother North Coast destination, the Dunluce Castle is another excellent pit stop when motorcycling to this part of Northern Ireland. Lying just outside of Portrush, bikers can cycle out to the beautiful remains of Dunluce Castle with a picnic or stop at various cafes along the way. Alastair says, “It’s one place I’ll never get tired of, especially the view of the castle coming along the road from the causeway. It’s absolutely spectacular.”

5. Fermanagh Lakelands

Lying beyond the North Coast, the Fermanagh Lakelands will be a great option for the Wednesday and Friday of race week when practice and racing is paused. Alastair likes to visit the area with family. The stunning lakes, epic mountaintops and smooth roads do make a wonderful day out.
