7 Activities to Enjoy in the Garden

During the brighter months, the garden can provide lots of fun for all the family. Not only is it a great opportunity for children to get some much-needed fresh air, but it is also guaranteed to keep them active.

What's more, by encouraging activities outside it will keep your kids from spending too much time in front of the TV or playing video games. Not only is this giving them a healthy break from any screen time, but it will also save you some pennies when it comes to using up electricity - it's a win-win!

With all of this in mind, take a look at our list of great garden activities below.

7 Garden Activities to Keep the Kids Entertained

1) Hide and Seek

Depending on the size of your garden, Hide and Seek can be a great activity to keep kids occupied for hours. Alternatively, kids could play a game of “Stuck in the Mud” if your garden doesn't have enough hiding spots.

2) Watering the Garden

Having the kids at home could mean an extra set of hands to help you water the garden. A toy watering can may be all that is needed to keep any little ones occupied. Or, if you have any older children then it could always be added to their weekly chores. Remember to thoroughly wash your hands after this activity to avoid bringing any unwanted bacteria into your home!

3) Green Fingers

There is nothing better than teaching your kids how to grow something. Not only will they be learning about the amazing wonders of nature, but it is also a nice bonding activity between you and your child. 4) Treasure Hunt

A treasure hunt is a great activity to get kids running round the garden. It will require a bit of thought and energy to plan, but it will be all the more worthwhile when you see excited faces racing from one clue to another.

5) Mini Sports Day

A mini sports day is a wonderful way to build up your child’s confidence and get them loving sport. It could be something as simple as jumping through hula hoops or an egg and spoon race.

6) Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Add excitement to lunchtime by having a picnic in the garden for your little one/s and their teddies. It is a great way of encouraging them to eat their lunch and to associate mealtimes with having fun.

7) Lego building challenge

If your kids are fans of Lego, then this is the perfect activity to keep them entertained. Little Bins for Little Hands has a free 30 day challenge calendar that gives your child a task for each day from building a robot to a boat. If you plan on sharing the blocks between other children, it’s always a good idea to wipe them down before and after use.

After all garden activities, we recommend you and your child wash your hands thoroughly for longer than 20 seconds when entering the house again.
