Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Meet Electric Ireland Shooting Stars Participants
On Wednesday, 27th February the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the National Stadium at Windsor Park in Belfast to watch primary school children from across the community take part in some of the Irish Football Association’s award-winning initiatives, including the Electric Ireland Shooting Stars programme.
The Electric Ireland Shooting Stars programme, which promotes football participation for girls aged between four and seven, forms part of our Game Changers campaign in partnership with the Irish FA. The campaign was designed to increase awareness and participation levels within the female game in Northern Ireland through the implementation of various programmes for all age groups to ensure there is a clear pathway for emerging talent. The programme encourages participation from the next generation of female footballers and has led to these young girls playing a massive 2,000 hours of football (so far) over the past four months!
This support from the Royal couple for the Electric Ireland Shooting Stars programme only further reflects the power our Game Changers campaign has on truly changing the game in Northern Ireland for the better!
