What's more, by encouraging activities outside it will keep your kids from spending too much time in front of the TV or playing video games. Not only is this giving them a healthy break from any screen time but it will also save you some pennies when it comes to using up electricity - it's a win-win!

With all of this in mind, take a look at our list of great garden activities below.

1) Hide and Seek

Depending on the size of your garden, Hide and Seek can be a great activity to keep kids occupied for hours. Alternatively, kids could play a game of tag or “Stuck in the Mud” if your garden doesn't have enough hiding spots.

2) Watering the Garden

Having the kids at home over could mean an extra set of hands to help you water the garden over summer. A toy watering can may be all that is needed to keep any little ones occupied. Or, if you have any older children then it could always be added to their weekly chores.

3) Green Fingers

4) Treasure Hunt

A treasure hunt is a great activity to get kids running round the garden. It will require a bit of thought and energy to plan, but it will be all the more worthwhile when you see excited faces racing from one clue to another.

5) Mini Sports Day

A mini sports day is a wonderful way to build up your child’s confidence and get them loving sport. It could be something as simple as jumping through hula hoops or an egg and spoon race. Invite the neighbours or friends to inject a bit of healthy competition into your sports day.

6) Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Teddy Bear Picnic

Add excitement to lunchtime by having a picnic in the garden for your little one/s and their teddies. It is a great way of encouraging them to eat their lunch and to associate meal times with having fun.

7) Water Fight

On a warm summer’s day kids will love throwing water balloons and firing water guns at one another. It will keep them out of the house for hours and might even save you from having to bath them before bed time!
